Glenn Barr Afro Boy Print

No comments:

1xRUN just released a new print by one of their favorite artists Glenn Barr and it is titled Afro Boy.

"The piece was created for my mini solo show at Miami Basel 2014. Andrew Hosner of ThinkSpace Gallery had invited me to participate at their booth where he gave me a large wall to exhibit my work. This was at one of the large satellite venues in Miami called SCOPE. “Afro Boy” was the first piece to be sold at the opening.

The original was painted in acrylic on wood. I recall when I was rendering the piece that I painted the girls face, hair and torso many times to get it right but Astro came quite quickly. I only made a few passes on his figure and it was done. I didn’t want to over work him. I think that’s why the piece has a lot of life to it. It retained the energy of the sketch." - Glenn Barr

Rhys Cooper x PangeaSeed March Print The Little Mermaid Release

No comments:
Tales from the Deep: Stories, Myths & Monsters fine art print suite from PangeaSeed to help save our seas continues this month with Rhys Cooper.

Rhys has created a stunning print titled The Little Mermaid. There is the regular edition of 200 and the 'Ocean's Treasure' variant of 100. Both are 12x36, 6 color screen prints with great metallics. All prints will be signed and numbered by Rhys.

Artist statement
In selecting the Mermaid as my theme I wanted to create a creature that was more in tune with her surroundings and environment than a mere human/fish, to the point where she is total organic, natural and almost hidden.
Wanting to play up her allure like the sailor tales of mermaids and sirens of old I wanted the piece to drawn you in, through her beauty and eyes but also have an element that the Mermaid, like the sea can be dangerous and unpredictable.

Originally being a princess I also liked the idea of her now being Queen of the Ocean with her father's trident surrounded by a living crown of anemones, fish, sea fan and coral.
Totally at one in harmony but also Ruler and guardian of her environment, a warning to those who threaten to harm it's beauty or inhabitants.
For this release Rhys Cooper will be selling all of them in order for them to all be signed & numbered by him. Just like all the other releases from PangeaSeed proceeds go to help Pangeaseed's education on the dangers facing the world's ocean's and marine life.

Available Tuesday morning 31st March Australian time and US EDT midday Monday March 30

Inspired by the beauty of the seasons and the joy of life this art print is aptly named with the Swedish word "livsnjutare" which means "one who loves life fully and lives to the extreme, literally: enjoyer of life." The guys at Triple Stamp Press were kind enough to take on this beast of a print and they did an amazing job! At 11 colors and a lot of tricky bits to it this came out amazing, better than I could have ever thought.

Kukula Dreams Of Summer Print Release

No comments:

Kukula returns to 1xRUN on Monday with the release of her newest print, Dreams Of Summer. A rather appropriate print since it seems this is the winter that just wont end.

Kukula’s paintings center on feminine, doll-like figures, often surrounded by objects with sometimes clear, sometimes obscure symbolic meaning. The work registers the influences of both classical European art forms and contemporary pop culture. In her figures’ poses Kukula recalls traditional portraiture, yet the style is manifestly modern and pop-influenced. Kukula’s compositions thereby disclose her personal struggles as mediated by a rich multi-cultural heritage.

"I originally drew this painting in 2011 but didn’t get the time to paint it. I was working on a few pieces for Dorothy Circus Summer show and thought it was finally time to finish this one. I had to change a few details as my styled changed a little since I originally drew it. For this painting I tried to keep the background a little raw, so it will have some more ambiance to it." - Kukula

Godmachine The Headless Saints Prints

No comments:

One of Godmachine’s more recent projects is a private commission from Rich of Minor Victory Inc., an enthusiast for the illustrative works of artists such as Godmachine, Joshua Belanger, Dan Mumford, Scott Move and many others. With many classic paintings but few ‘modern’ interpretations of the headless Saints myth, Godmachine was the artist who took on the project to bring the Saints back to life, or death. The brief was loose and simply for three pieces, although Rich’s preference was for ‘classic Godmachine’.

The triptych comprises center-piece ‘Old Man’, flanked by ‘Woman’ and finally an incredible interpretation of a classic image of St Denis at Pantheon. In Godmachine’s own words ‘‘My copy/take/godmachinification of the beautiful and famous painting of St Denis. Really enjoyed drawing those steps.’’ Aficionados of headless saints might be interested where Godmachine chose to place the halo, something debated for centuries in the church.

Although originating as a private commission, Rich has decided to make a limited print run available at Minor Victory Inc. Never setting out to be another online gallery, Rich’s ethos is to only release pieces that come from his own, original ideas with sales pump-priming the costs of further commissions and printing.

Printed on high-quality screen prints on bright-white 300 gsm paper by Tommy at Prints of Thieves. Each individual print in the series is sized at 594 x 420 mm on a paper size of 640 x 450 mm, allowing a reasonable margin for framing. Limited edition of only 30 of each piece, numbered and with embedded artist signature, stamped on rear. The full set of three prints is available now for pre-order for collectors ahead of a later release of each illustration individually.

Doze Green x Mars1 Terraformer Print Release

No comments:

1xRUN has killer collaboration print happening today as Doze Green and Mars1 have gotten together to create Terraformer.

Doze Green Cubist influences include ascending and descending planes and repetitive, overlapping, and concentric lines in an otherwise undefined landscape. For Doze Green, this energy and motion of created forms exist in a visual meeting place of ideas.

Mars1 aka Mario Martinez paints from a penetrating perspective of great depth. Viewers are drawn into his imaginative compositions, overflowing with colorful geometric and organic shapes, layered to form unique patterns and textures.

The print is a 24 x 18 Inches Archival Pigment Print on 310gsm Fine Art Paper with a signed & numbered edition of 200

Godmachine At the End of It Print Release World Premiere Exclusive

No comments:

Last year True Detective took a lot of people by surprise as it introduced us to the world of Rust Cohle, Marty Hart and the Yellow King. It soon became the series to watch. During an interrogation scene with the police Rust breaks it all down with the following quote.

“To realize that all your life—you know, all your love, all your hate, all your memory, all your pain—it was all the same thing. It was all the same dream. A dream that you had inside a locked room. A dream about being a person…And like a lot of dreams, there’s a monster at the end of it.”
— True Detective

From this, Godmachine was inspired to create this latest print "At the End of It"

Signed & numbered limited Edition of only 50
Screen Print on Madero Beach 100c paper
18 x 24 one color print

On Sale at 4pm EDT / 8pm GMT at http://godmachine.co.uk/

David Welker Rutherford Phish Print Release Details

No comments:

The Mockingbird Foundation is excited to announce "Rutherford", the first in a series of art prints commissioned for their upcoming book The Phish Companion - 3rd Edition. Gloriously executed by the brilliant David Welker, the artist behind Phish's Rift cover art, this print features an armor-suited Rutherford plunging into the depths of a raging river. Framed by rich Gamehendgian imagery, David's stunning interpretation will be reproduced in TPC3 to introduce the first era of Phish.

This is the first in a series of eight art prints being created by top artists, each representing a different era of the band's career. Each print will be reproduced in full color in TPC3, and also sold as limited edition prints (both individually, and as a complete set). More details about the print series will be released in the coming weeks.

David has created a special mirror foil edition of "Rutherford". This screenprint measures 24" x 18", is printed on mirror foil paper (similar to David's acclaimed Alpharetta '14 print), and has an edition size of 600. (There will also be a standard edition of the print, to be sold at a later date.)

The mirror foil edition of "Rutherford" will go on sale at 12:00 noon EDT on March 31, 2015, via the Bottleneck Gallery website, for $100.

Darin Shock Huff 'n Doback Poster Foil Variant

No comments:

People love Huff 'n Doback so much so Darin Shock is doing a pre-sale now through April 1st. Darin has received a lot of requests over the years (and a lot recently for some reason) for his long sold out, tiny edition of Huff 'n Doback prints. It's a print originally created for a Step Brothers themed gallery show that sold out quickly. Anyway, he decided to create a foil variant of the print. The design has been slightly altered and specifically tailored for a foil. It'll be 18x24", and 5 colors on rainbow foil. He may have some extra but pre-ordering is the only way to guarantee yourself a print.

They're available for $80 here:

Shepard Fairey The Music of David Lynch Poster Release

No comments:

Be it the synthesized echo of the Twin Peaks theme song, the Angelo Badalamenti score to Blue Velvet or Mulholland Drive’s “Llorando,” David Lynch deploys music in his work to stirring effect, creating layers of meanings in a sequence of melancholic minor chords or startled key changes. On April 1, the David Lynch Foundation celebrates its 10th Anniversary with The Music of David Lynch, an exploration of the director’s use of immersive and ambient sound in his films, Twin Peaks and original catalog. All proceeds benefit the non-profit Foundation to bring Transcendental Meditation to at-risk populations suffering with PTSD.

Wednesday Apr 1, 2015
Doors: 7:00 PM,  Show: 8:00 PM
The Theatre at Ace Hotel, 929 SOUTH BROADWAY, Los Angeles, CA
Shepard Fairey on the poster :
I’m a big fan of David Lynch’s movies, art, and music so I was excited to be asked to create an image for the David Lynch Foundation, his Transcendental Meditation organization. This is the second time that I was asked to make something for the foundation, I also did the image for the David Lynch Foundation benefit concert featuring Paul McCartney at Radio City Music Hall back in 2009.
I think David is a unique personality as well as someone with a unique look.  It is great to try to capture him in an illustration because he is such an icon.  This is a solid organization to support, so if you purchase the print consider it as a win-win, you get a poster and support a worthwhile cause.
The lineup for “The Music of David Lynch” is awesome, so check it out next Wednesday, April 1 at The Ace Theater in downtown Los Angeles. There are a very limited number of the VIP tickets left.  -Shepard
The poster is 18 x 24 inch screen print on cream speckle tone paper.  Signed and numbered edition of 2100.
Release date: April 1, 2015.  100 Prints will be available in the Obey Giant store at random time between 10 am and 11am PST in PRINTS.
VIP ticket packages still available here.

Andrew Ghrist Cold is All We Have to Breathe Print

No comments:

Andrew Ghrist has been able to warm up his fingers after another arctic like winter in Chicago and create a new print. He released the new art print today and it looks great.

"Cold is All We Have to Breathe" is an 18"x24" art print made during the very brutal Chicago winter. Screenprinted on 100# Madero Beach French Paper made in an edition of 55, and the variant on 80# Sand French Paper made in an edition of 25. These both are on sale now through https://www.etsy.com/shop/ARGhristPrints

Andrew on the design of the print:
This art print was originally made for a poster i designed for the release of Meredith Moore's first novel "I Am Her Revenge". However when i was drawing i started to get attached to the image and thought it would be able to stand alone without the text, and work great as an art print.

Rob Loukotka The Desk of Dr. Jones Print On Sale Now

No comments:

Rob Loukotka's first Famous Desks print featuring Tony Stark print was a huge success, which is great because this series is fun and Rob loves drawing objects. So now he made an even more insane / detailed print of Indiana Jones, with over 40 artifacts from the trilogy.

The illuminated golden fertility idol from Raiders of the Lost Ark, the sacred stones from Temple of Doom, the Holy Grail from The Last Crusade. The magnitude of amazing objects in these films is second to none. Rob realized this as he was taking notes to build his drawing list, and he could not stop.

Rob plan's to continue this desk series, because it lets him draw collections of props, which is cool.

The Desk of Dr. Jones
36 x 12" Screen Print
2 colors (Including Metallic Gold Ink) on Cream paper
Signed and numbered by Rob Loukotka
Limited edition of 350, available now for $45

Tim Doyle Change Into a Truck Print & Robert Wilson 2001: A Space Odyssey Print

No comments:

Tim Doyle's Change Into a Truck is by far the best-selling single print on the Nakatomi site. It was the first MAJOR viral hit they had shortly after launching the site back in January of 2009, and here they are out of Tim's garage in a real studio six years later, and doing better than ever.

This time around, to commemorate the landmark 10th edition of this print, they printed it with ALL metallic ink- and the results are…VERY SHINY!

Prints measure 16×20 and are signed and numbered by artist Tim Doyle in an edition of only 200 worldwide.

These prints are in hand and ready for immediate shipment- get them HERE in the Nakatomi Store!

Robert Wilson IV been a long time-associate of Nakatomi, and they’re super happy to have a bunch of new prints of his up on the site.

Pictured above is I'm Afraid Dave, his tribute to Stanley Kubricks classic 2001: A Space Odyssey. The prints measure 18×24, and are signed and numbered by the artist in an edition of 125 worldwide.

This print and many more are available in the ROBERT WILSON IV section of the Nakatomi store HERE!
