Moments Lost: Music and Art Inspired by Blade Runner show at Bottleneck Gallery

No comments:

Hey New York join Bottleneck Gallery tonight Saturday, May 31st, as they host the premiere of Analog Sweden's Moments Lost: Music and Art Inspired by Blade Runner.

Taken from theVerge.com, "Moments Lost is a cyberpunk love letter in the form of a concept album. Its goal is simple: to craft new works inspired by the world of Blade Runner. To this end, several musicians, illustrators, and a writer have joined together to create what is essentially a collaborative art project, which will mix up illustration, music, and short stories into one cohesive whole. "It feels to me that the world of LA 2019 lives on independently of the movie now," says one of the creators, Fredrik Segerfalk. "That's why we want to go there to look for new moments."

The opening reception will take place from 7pm-9pm at Bottleneck Gallery on 60 Broadway, Brooklyn, NY 11249.

All artwork and music will be available for purchase the night of the show and any leftover work will go on sale the following day on Sunday, June 1st, at 12pm eastern.

The show will be open to view from May 2nd-May 18th.

Justin Santora Ray LaMontagne & Charles Bradley Posters On Sale

No comments:

Justin Santora has a released a couple of good looking posters. First up is his recent poster for Ray LaMontagne. It's a 7 (seven!) color screen print, including an improvised transparent metallic layer. Justin said he had fun drawing these old Volkswagen beetles and working on a color scheme that popped nicely, while still trying to work within a relatively subdued color palate. It's 18x24", and is a signed/numbered edition of 200 (though I have much less available for sale).

Next up is a tour poster Justin did for Charles Bradley's recent US tour. When approaching a new poster project, Justin tries to learn as much as he can about a band or artist in order to come up with imagery that he thinks is relevant and resonant with the band or artist as well as their body of work. When reading about Charles Bradley's life story, he couldn't resist trying to illustrate it--at least part of it! Each panel in this poster is meant to represent a certain part of Mr. Bradley's storied biography.

Both posters are on sale now at JustinSantora.com

David Lynch Fugscreens Studios Free Friday Poster Giveaway

63 comments:

David Lynch has created some of the most influential movies and video of any director from this generation. I only wish we could get more of his work in a shorter amount of time. So when Zissou of Fugscreens Studios suggested a giveaway I said sure I would love too. I did not ask and he did not say what he was sending. When I opened the tube this was the first poster I saw and my jaw hit the floor.

The poster is titled Lynch Me and it is a ridiculous 18 layer screen print, yes 18, most posters are 2-4 this one is 18. It also measures 15" x 30"inches and has an edition of 55.

Now go to the top of the post above the picture and click on comments or scroll down (depends on how you see this post) to leave a comment about your favorite David Lynch piece of work if you want to have a chance at winning the poster. Don't worry if your comment does not appear immediately I have to approve them before they are published. I will use the Random Number Generator to pick a winner. Entries are limited to ONE PER PERSON PER HOUSEHOLD. Please leave your name with the comment, comments without names will not be accepted. Entries will be accepted until 11:59 PM PST Saturday May 31 with the winner announced on Sunday.

Malleus Jon Spencer Blues Explosion & ASG Poster Release Details

No comments:

On Friday Malleus will have a couple of hot new posters for sale. One for The Jon Spencer Blues Explosion European tour and the other for ASG European tour.

The Jon Spencer Blues Explosion poster was inspired by a movie from 1971, “Blood from the Mummy’s tomb” featuring the wonderful Valerie Leon. Then Jon suggested to create a sort of “extraterrestrial touch” to the idea around it mixing elements of the past with a sarcophagus in a Giger style. So, Malleus worked hard on the final image for what will be “Blood from the ancient ones” tour. The poster is an edition of 135 with less than 20 going on sale.

The ASG poster is 5 colors on cream paper with an edition of 185 but less than 35 will be for sale.

Both poster go on sale Friday at the Malleus website at a random time  http://malleusdelic.com/

Todd Slater Summer Camp Music Festival Posters

No comments:

Details from Todd Slater on his new poster:

Hey everyone, I've just added copies of my recent Summer Camp Festival print to my site and here's a few thoughts about the imagery:

I showed my friend Rob Jones the fall Widespread Panic print months ago and he suggested I follow it up with one made of roses and branches. I liked the idea but knew it would read as a tribute to the Grateful Dead and didn't want to do that for WP. So I sat on the thought until Summer Camp approached me. It's difficult to represent 100+ bands with a single image which makes festival prints more challenging than a single gig poster. Many of the bands performing at Summer Camp are paying some kind of respect to the Dead in regards to their performance style and touring habits and I decided the imagery worked best here.

NOTES: 18 x 24 inches /// 5 screens /// signed and numbered artist editions: 55 on hunter green paper, 30 on black metallic paper & exclusive navy metallic edition of 20 /// numbered copies sold at Summer Camp Festival: edition of 300 on hunter green paper and 100 on black metallic paper /// May 23-25, 2014 in Chillicothe, IL

Guy Burwell Queens of the Stone Age x Primus, Modest Mouse & Like A Villain Posters Release

No comments:

Guy Burwell is releasing 3 new posters today Queens of the Stone Age and Primus, Modest Mouse & Like A Villain

Modest Mouse: A print from their recent long awaited Portland show. Sold out instantly at the show, Guy will have very few available. The Mice were nice. The project was quick and direct and flatly stamped out in a three color sobering dash of whimsy you have to hang in your hall for a few days, passing it on your way out the door, before the message starts to infect your routine.
 3 color signed numbered edition of 130 17.25 x 22.5 inches

Queens of the Stone Age and Primus Kansas City: A special one-off co-headline event! Guy will have them for sale in reasonable numbers at reasonable prices for reasonable (??) people. The Primus camp always does a great job of making sure their appearances are represented with a fine art poster print, and the Queens are also long time supporters of the craft, so combine the two and you get a piece of work that might try to mess with your brain while your sleeping if you aren't careful.
4 color signed numbered edition of 400 17.5 x 22.5

Like A Villain: Portland’s Like A Villain is a very unique performer and Guy was very happy to accent her live performances with very VERY small runs of prints. Mainly available at upcoming Like A Villain events, he will have a very few prints. May contain magical properties. Check online for upcoming shows and supplementary materials.
 5 color signed numbered edition of 50 (!!) 15 x 22

All 3 posters will be available Thursday, May 29 near 11 A.M., Pacific Northwest time at www.GuyBurwell.com

Eric Gebhardt April In Paris Print Release

No comments:

Eric Gebhardt is a designer from Milwaukee and has been busting his ass to get his first print done April in Paris. It's done and he is ready to release it.

Eric on the print:
I started this image to study the form of the Eiffel Tower in a new way. I modified a 3D model of it, and then used the computer to essentially wrap the form around an object – in this case, a sphere. The bursts of metallic ink remind me of the tower after dark, lit up by glittering strobe lights. I try to capture my favorite experience of a place in my art. The light show emphasizes the timeless beauty of this structure. Cheers to the next 125 years! 3/31/1889 – 3/31/2014.

Title: “April in Paris”
Technique: Screen print
Size: 23 3/4" W x 23 7/16" H

Shepard Fairey Paint It Black Hand Edition Print Release

No comments:

Obey Giant will be releasing a new edition of Shepard Fairey's Paint It Black Print this week, simple calling it the Hand edition with a new image of course.

Shepard on the print :
When I was working on the Paint it Black poster concept I tried several approaches, as I do with every poster, but instead of only one successful direction, I felt I found two solutions for Paint it Black. Both versions are inspired by the Rolling Stones song, but the first version was fashioned more after a vintage newspaper ad, while the Paint it Black Hand has a bit more of a propaganda feel. Regardless, they are both about oil dictating too much of our energy policy and our foreign policy. Imagine if all the money spent on wars and strategic interests in the Middle East had been spent on developing green energy alternatives. Instead, our government subsidizes the highly profitable oil and gas industries for $40 billion a year because no politician wants a rise in the price of gas to be blamed on them. Newsflash: we are still paying more for gas whether it’s at the pump or through our taxes. The need for gas will remain, but we need to invest in sustainable energy alternatives as we transition off of the finite supply of fossil fuels that are also terrible for CO2 emissions. Proceeds from this print will go to the NRDC to support their efforts to shape responsible environmental policy. Thanks for caring.
-Shepard

The print is 18 x 24 inch screen print on Speckletone paper.  Signed and numbered edition of 450.  $50.  A portion of the proceeds will benefit the NRDC.

On sale Thursday May 29, 2014 in two releases at 10am and 4pm PST in PRINTS.
