New stuff from Nakatomi

No comments:

From Alex at Nakatomi:

Good and Evil.

Here at Nakatomi Print Labs, we’re always trying to improve our set-up. Test the limits of what we can print, and explore the boundaries of screenprinting. One thing we don’t do a lot of is photo-collage work. So, we decided to fire up the ‘ol photoshop and see what we could do.

We printed these as a photo resolution test, but they’re just way too cool not to get out there. Since obviously ZERO thought went into these, we’re selling ‘em cheap. But really, what thought needs to go into DON KNOTTS vs. OSAMA BIN LADEN duking it out on the GAME GRID. We weren’t thinking with our minds…we were thinking with our hearts.

2 prints each measuring 11 3/4″ square.

Only 15 sets available to the public, the rest will be digitized at ENCOM and sent to compete in the games.

Available HERE for $15 per set in the Art Prints section!

This 3 color 6″x24″ print is yours for the taking!

They've got a couple dozen of these laying around, and they’re throwing them in for free w/ every poster order. And again, no purchase needed- you want one, swing on by the print shop, or send a SAST (Self Addressed , Stamped Tube) to Nakatomi HQ, and they’ll send one of these right back to you while supplies last. Just make sure you include enough postage for a 1lb priority mail shipment for it to get back to you!

PLEASE NOTE- They can only ship these freebie posters with other poster orders (unless you send a tube!). If you order a sticker set or a t-shirt pick POSTER shipping, so they can’t get it in there all together in a tube. And SELF ADDRESSED STAMPED TUBE means you HAVE TO INCLUDE RETURN SHIPPING either in the form of cash or postage!

Dave and Holly Combs are wonderful people as well as the founders of PEEL Zine. They took the risk of following their artistic passion and have paid the price of losing their home. I created this print with and for them to raise money to help with their huge debt. PEEL has helped to support and grow the street art community and I believe they deserve to have the favor returned. Profits from this print go to help the Combs family. Please help out.

Huck and Fully Visual have joined forces again on a new metal project. They drop tomorrow Tuesday, 9.29.09 @ 11 AM PDT in the Fully Visual store for $130 each. Walrus TV Artist Feature: Mike Giant Interview from “Dithers”

No comments:
I was at a skate spot that we had been painting, and I ate shit, real bad and it shook the ground. And this kid I was skating with said, ‘Damn, you went down like a giant!’ That was it; I started writing Giant from then on out.
-Mike Giant

Mike Giant’s art is found on skateboards, walls, t-shirts, and even skin. Although found in different forms and venues, his signature black & white style holds true to the sense of urban surrealism often linked to the skateboard, tattoo and graffiti culture, while still being recognizably unique. Mike Giant’s art has been displayed in galleries from San Francisco, where he resides, to Los Angeles, Spain and Australia. He has also launched his own clothing line, Rebel 8, which highlights his work on everything from tees to hats. Watch the interview from “Dithers,” available for the first time to the public for free, on Walrus TV.

Tonights Pearl Jam poster from Utah by Brad Klausen

No comments:

WOW Brad really killed it on this one. Nice reference to the song Red Mosquito.

"Watched from the window with a red mosquito
I was not allowed to leave the room
I saw the sun go down and now it's coming up
Somewhere in the time between

I was bitten. Must have been the devil
He was just paying me a little visit
Reminding me of his presence
Letting me know he's a-waiting. Ohh...

Red man's your neighbor. Call it behavior
While you're climbing up slippery hills
Two steps ahead of him. Punctures in your neck
Hovering just above your bed.

I was bitten must have been the devil
He was just paying me a little visit
Reminding me of his presence
And letting me know he's a-waiting
He's a-waiting ohh there. Yeah

If I had known then what I know now..."

Gov't Mule Posters by Chuck Sperry and Dave Hunter

No comments:

From the Print Master Chuck Sperry:

Dave Hunter and I created and printed a two-up poster for Gov't Mule when they played Friday and Saturday, September 25 and 26, 2009 at the Warfield, Firehouse Goldenvoice Poster Series numbers 66 and 67.

These were printed together on one parent sheet and cut apart, so the challenge was to bring out the best in each artist while sharing the same color palette. We chose to print a heavy silver metallic and tint the silver with three custom mixed primary colors and black.

Both posters are available at Chucks website in a limited offering.

A very limited release of uncut sheets containing both posters will be made at TRPS Festival of Poster at the Hall of Flowers in San Francisco's Golden Gate Park on Saturday, October 10, from 10 am to 6pm.

OriginalFake Dissected Companion Keychain

No comments:

Throughout various OriginalFake Companion releases, the Dissected versions have often become the most sought after releases and usually serving as a follow-up to the initial release of the regular version. Much like the case of the 4 foot tall Companions, OriginalFake releases a series of follow-up Dissected Companion Keychains in three different colors. They have hit Japanese retailers but expect them to land in accounts worldwide in the very near future.

Free Death Show Poster this weekend.

No comments:

Jason Routhier designed the poster for the recently rediscovered punk band Death. It's a three color screen print with an edition size of 200. The poster size is 11x17" with an image size of 10.5" x 16.5". They will be distributing them after each show (they're FREE!). The picture is a bit grainy the inks used on the poster are coated so it's super glossy and kinda hard to photograph.

The show dates are:

9/25/09 Magic Stick Detroit MI
9/26/09 The Empty Bottle Chicago IL
9/27/09 Beachland Ballroom Cleveland OH

If you don't know about them, there is a great article that the NY
Times ran a few months ago.
http://www.nytimes.com/2009/03/15/arts/music/15rubi.html?_r=1

Jason will be selling some some on his blog therucchishow.com after this weekend and you can see some of his other work.

ART FOR OBAMA BOOK

No comments:

Designing Manifest Hope and the Campaign for Change
Edited by Shepard Fairey & Jennifer Gross

NOW AVAILABLE IN STORES!!

In conjunction with the themes of hope and change, all of the authors’ profits from this book will be donated to Americans for the Arts (http://www.americansforthearts.org/) charity.

Few events in recent memory have captivated the world’s attention like that of Barack Obama’s historic presidential campaign. Not only did it stir passionate political momentum, but it also inspired an array of creative arts from a world of artists, illustrators, and graphic designers. Shepard Fairey’s iconic “HOPE” portrait became the face of the campaign, prompting a personal thank-you note from the president, which is included in ART FOR OBAMA (Abrams Image; October 2009; $22.50 US / $29.50 CAN; ISBN: 978-0-8109-8498-1). In conjunction with the themes of hope and change, all of the authors’ profits from this book will be donated to Americans for the Arts (http://www.americansforthearts.org/) charity.

Innovative portraits and graphic designs from artists around the country became a powerful symbol of the country’s desire for change, and engaging artists-from the grassroots level to the international level-became a central strategy to inspire passion and win the presidential race. In ART FOR OBAMA, Fairey showcases 150 of those powerful images from the campaign, including works created by well-known artists such as, Ron English, David Choe, Kwaku Alston, Maya Hayuk, Justin Hampton, and Shel Starkman. The Manifest Hope art shows, which took place in Denver during the Democratic National Convention and Washington DC preceding the inauguration, featured artists who used their talents to motivate the grassroots movement that carried Barack Obama to victory. The shows were put on by Evolutionary Media Group, Obey Giant, MoveOn.org, Political Action, SEIU and Studio Number One.

ART FOR OBAMA is comprised of collages, paintings, photo composites, prints, and computer-generated pieces, showcasing the well-known images of the campaign as well as less famous, but equally creative pieces from around the globe. This is a volume for design and art aficionados, as well as supporters of the forty-fourth president of the United States who want a keepsake as uncommon as his extraordinary campaign.
